At ASF African Soft Fur & Mice, we are passionate small animal breeders dedicated to raising healthy, well-socialized African Soft Fur rats and fancy mice. Every animal in our care receives top-quality nutrition, enrichment, and daily human interaction from the day they're born.

What We Offer
All of our animals are raised in clean, enriching environments with plenty of care, space, and socialization before going to their forever homes.
Our specialty! ASF rats are known for their incredibly soft fur, gentle temperament, and curious personalities. They make wonderful pets and are easy to handle.

New Owner Guide
Whether you're a first-time owner or a seasoned keeper, here are the basics for keeping your new pet happy and thriving.
Provide a well-ventilated cage with plenty of space to explore. Avoid cedar/pine bedding — use paper or aspen. Clean weekly to prevent odor buildup.
A quality rodent block or lab block diet is the foundation. Supplement with fresh veggies and occasional protein. Fresh water should always be available.
Wheels, tunnels, chew toys, and daily handling keep your pet mentally stimulated and physically healthy. Bored rodents develop bad habits — keep them busy!
ASF rats and mice are social animals and do best in pairs or small groups. A lonely rodent can become stressed. Consider adopting two so they always have company.
Find an exotic-friendly vet before you need one. Small animals can hide illness well, so annual check-ups and quick action when symptoms appear are key.
Keep your pet between 65–80°F (18–27°C). Avoid drafts and direct sunlight. Extreme heat is dangerous for small rodents — they can overheat quickly.
